With its fabulous culture, great food, fine wines, interesting history and varied landscape, France is a lovely place to take a holiday.

Most travellers head to Paris - the romantic capital of the world - where they can enjoy some of the country's most famous sights including the Sacre Coeur, Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower and the Champs Elysee. The Louvre is probably one of the most famous museums in the world and visitors can take the opportunity to see Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece the Mona Lisa.

But if you've had your fill of sights and shopping in the capital, you will be pleased to know that France has much more to offer.

The wine region in central France and Bordeaux is home to the vineyards that create the delicious beverages. By visiting this area you will not only see the grapes that make the wine but also learn about how it is made and find out more about France's fascinating culture and history.

Nearby, the Loire Valley offers a plethora of chateaux that will enchant all travellers. Known as the Garden of France, this region contains more than 1,000 chateaux, many of which can be viewed and enjoyed by visitors.

During winter, France becomes a mecca for skiers and snowboarders because of its impressive array of ski resorts. The Alps boasts a number of world famous destinations including Val d'Isere, Meribel, Les Arcs and Tignes and it also has fabulous views.

The apres-ski lifestyle is a great draw and if you are more a fan of the off-piste lifestyle then you can enjoy the many bars and clubs that the mountain resorts have to offer. In the summer, this area becomes a haven for walkers and mountain climbers.

For those who want to relax in the sun, the south of France has a number of popular destinations including Cannes, which is a favourite haunt for celebrities. Marseilles, St Tropez and Nice are also popular.

The country is famous for its great food and wine and a good way to experience this is to enjoy a meal in one of its many restaurants. You can indulge in croissants, crepes, baguettes, French cheeses, snails, frog's legs and many other delicacies while staying in France.
